"A Sweet Scattering"

Grief, a vague, illusive sadness, the scattering of a husband's dust and bone,



bone destined to enrich shoreline, a shoreline



he loved and shepherded; his grit anchor for the willow, fish spawn, ducklings.



Of an evening, Grandpa cruised the boulevard,



happy as any lad, his pleasure in a picturesque statue or children digging inland seas, couples, old folk, our own children once scooped minnows from the shallows,



biked along the lake shore....
